Man City Held to 0-0 Draw by Real Madrid in Quarterfinal Clash

Walker Returns, Stones Absent for City

Matchup Sets Stage for Thrilling Semifinal

Manchester City and Real Madrid played out a cagey 0-0 draw in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. The result leaves the tie finely balanced ahead of the second leg in Madrid next week.

City were without the suspended John Stones, while Kyle Walker returned to the starting lineup after recovering from injury. Real Madrid made three changes from their weekend victory over Barcelona, with David Alaba, Fede Valverde, and Karim Benzema coming in.

The first half was a tactical battle, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. City had the better of the possession, but Madrid looked dangerous on the counterattack. The closest either side came to scoring was in the 25th minute when Erling Haaland's shot was well saved by Thibaut Courtois.

The second half was more open, with both teams taking more risks. City continued to press for a goal, but Madrid held firm. The visitors had a great chance to take the lead in the 70th minute when Vinicius Junior broke clear, but his shot was saved by Ederson.

In the end, neither team could find a breakthrough, and the match ended in a goalless draw. The two sides will meet again in Madrid on April 12 for the second leg. The winner of the tie will face either Arsenal or Barcelona in the semifinals.
